Group Project

Lesson Seven - Excursion

Materials needed:

  • Digital Camera (one per group if possible)
  • Pens/pencils
  • Notebook or notepaper
  • Clipboards (1 per student)
  • Worksheet

The Plan:

For the excursion students will work in their groups from previous activities. In their groups students should be take photos through out the excursion, a worksheet to guide them through photo taking can be found on the Student Resources page:

The purpose of the excursion is for the students to see a variety of plants in a natural environment. Students should be able to identify various plant adaptations, and relationships between plants and animals. The should also be able to identify with human impact on the plants. The programs run at each location should assist students in their learning.

As students make their way though natural environments, they should be encouraged to share anything interesting they see, whether they understand it or not. Students should be encouraged to discuss their surroundings in groups and as a class, and note down anything they wish to find out more information on. This will give students something to research, and add to their final presentation.

We have two recommended excursions. However, if you are unable to do either of these options, any excursion of a similar nature is acceptable.
